Corvette vs Firebird - Production numbers

A few of my Pontiac-friends have been tormenting me for years calling the Corvette a run of the mill, refering to the high numbers of cars produced. Some of them drive Firebirds, some drive Firebird Formulas and some drive Firebird Trans Am. They are all Firebirds, but the main difference between the different Firebirds are engine options, some decals and scoops. We all drive American Musclecars between 1967 and 1979, with exception of one 1994 Corvette. So, after years of tormenting I decided to dig a little deeper, and this is what I found out..

Some years, 1977-1978-1979-1980, there are more Trans Am's produced than Corvettes, not mentioning Formulas and plain Firebirds.

Production numbers listed for 1970 is for the Firebird the 1970 1/2. 

In the 70's Chevrolet made 368,906 Corvettes.

In the 70's Pontiac made 1,001,070 Firebirds, where of 525,562 were Formula and Trans Am.
